Bostadsmarknadens utveckling i London 2010-2016

Kartan visar vilken aggressiv utveckling bostadsmarknaden i London haft bara de senaste 12 månaderna och vidare kommer att få om de regeringsförslag på slopade subventioner och hyreshöjningar genomförs som planerats.

De områden i London där rött möter grått på kartan är exakt de delar där upploppen och plundringarna var som värst. Svårt att argumentera för att det inte skulle finnas ett samband.

Michaels egen förklaring till kartans tillkomst:

The map was done by people in Cambridge Uni (Alex Fenton) who were asked to predict the impact of a government decision a year ago to cut back on ‘Housing Benefits and Allowances” which cover some of the gap between low incomes and high rents for many thousands of people and are specially important in London because of the high levels of rents.  Essentially they show which areas were affordable for low income renters (at an assumed income level) last year; then (in red) which additional areas cease to be affordable in 2011, and then finally (in red again) which areas are further added by the time the cuts are fully implemented in 2016.
